Comic book pages finished !

After nearly a month of work my comic designs are finished and ready to be bound. I really like how these have turned out, exactly what I had in mind when I started this project. I think the black and white works great with the hand drawn type and makes it stand out much more. This will all look much better when the front page is finished and its all bound together.

Hand Drawn Comic Type

Ive started a new project based on comics and typography, this will be building on my last comic book project, but this time I will be approaching it from a different angle. I want to focus on hand drawn type and illustrations rather than digital, so far I have created some ideas and layouts using type and image. Below are just some pictures of my first drawings to research and practice different comic book styles.

All Star Superman

This is one of my favourite comic books I have read so far, absolutely loved this. The whole fantasy style of it just made it really fun. Great story line and ideas.

Carnage

I have already read Carnage U.S.A which I thought was awesome, so thought I would go for Carnage Family Feud, even though these are obviously in the wrong order they are still both great comics. I love the illustration style, so much detail that fits the character perfectly.

Creative Spark

For this brief we had to create posters for our university graduation exhibition. This was another group project but below are the posters that I designed for my part of the project.

Save water

This third year project was based upon the idea of getting people to save water. My idea was to show people how much water they were wasting when using household appliances. I did this using bottled water and info graphics to portray the water wastage. I have some mock ups of the posters here.

Alight

Alight was a sheffield music festival that took place last year. One of our second year briefs was to create posters and designs to advertise this event. We were told in the brief that there were three main parts to the event, twilight, daylight and into the night which should influence our ideas.

Dece

This was a second year project that was created in a group. Together we created this packaging, labels and catalogue designs. We got good feedback from the client and he actually took some of our examples so it was good to know he appreciated it.

Research on Type

These images are from some old maps that have been highly decorated with type and I think they look so nice. These were included as research in one of my projects for clothing company called Dece. Ill be uploading the images of that project soon.
